Tour of the Rostov Finift exhibition
Rostov Kremlin has the largest collection of enamel in Russia. Finift is the Russian name of the French term "enamel", a folk art trade, miniature enamel painting.
The term "enamel" comes from the Greek words "fengos" or "fingitis," meaning "shimmering" and "light, shiny stone. For its brilliance, brightness, durability and unfading colors, artistic enamel has always been valued at the level of gemstones.
