Khabarovsk Krai Museums Association project "O! Far Eastern Expedition".

March 24, 2022

The project of Khabarovsk Krai Museums Association "O! Far Eastern Expedition" became the winner in the contest of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives for grants for projects in the field of culture, art and creative (creative) industries.

"Oh!" combines a traveling exhibition-laboratory, "Done with It," and an educational program, "Get In!" dedicated to paleontology and geology.

The authors will tell about the scientists from the Far East, who made a significant contribution to the study of the history of the development and structure of the Earth, minerals and rocks found in the Far East, fossil remains of organisms that once inhabited the territory of modern Priamurye.

The project team processed a large stratum of information that had not previously been published in a popular science format, created a special exhibition space that will not only take into account the capabilities of the premises of municipal museums, but also allow to combine the theoretical and practical parts of the educational program, organized the transportation of objects in remote areas of the region, etc.

At the moment, "O! stonework" is in the most active preparation stage. In order to explain the material in an accessible way, to reflect the importance and scale of the researchers' work, maps, diagrams and photos from expeditions will be included in the information tablets. A summary map of paleontological finds on the territory of Priamurye and Western Priokhota is made specially for the exhibition "We've got it".

The program will be implemented in 2022 in five remote northern districts of Khabarovsk Krai: Nikolayevsky, Okhotsk, Ayano-Maysky, Sovetsko-Gavansky and Vaninsky.

Natalia Zvereva, a specialist of the Territorial Fund of Geological Information, joined the team. An active assistant is paleontologist Evgeny Kalinin, now chief geologist of KomsomolskTISIS. Both of them have experience in expeditions, report writing, and educational work with children. They help to sift out unnecessary layers of information, to understand the essence of scientific works and formulate it more simply, to select illustrative material. After the final correction the texts and illustrations will go to the artist Anastasia Tychenko.

At the same time, work is going on to select exhibits for the exhibition.

The partners are the N.I. Grodekov Khabarovsk Krai Museum, the E.F. Morokov Okhotsk Krai Museum, the Ayan-Maysk Municipal District Museum of Local Lore, the N.K. Boshnyak District Museum of Local Lore (Sovetskaya Gavan), the Vanino District Museum of Local Lore, the R.E. Rozov Inter-settlement Museum of Local Lore (Nikolaevsk-on-Amur), and the Institute of Geology and Nature Management of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Blagoshensk).
