In connection with the transition to gold currency in October 1923 - January 1928 stamps of the 1st standard series of the USSR with the image of a worker, peasant and Red Army soldier on the sculptural portraits of Ivan Dmitrievich Shadr (1887-1941), Russian and Soviet sculptor-monumentalist were put into circulation. The denominations of the stamps were indicated in kopecks in gold. The issue was called "Gold Standard".
