In the period from July 5 to July 12, 2018 a researcher of the ethnography department of the Khabarovsk Regional Museum named after N.I. Grodekov. N.I. Grodekov V.B. Malakshanova made an expedition to the place of compact residence of Evenks in Tuguro-Chumikansky District of Khabarovsk Territory.
The expedition consisted of two stages: the first stage was data collection in Chumikan village; the second stage was collection of materials in Barbashi area in the herders' camp (tabor) of the family and clan community "Oron" and work with the population of the village. Algazeya. The basic work was concentrated at the settlement of the hereditary Evenki reindeer-herders from the family clan "Oron" in the Barbashi settlement on the Okhotsk coast where 25 years ago, in the summer of 1993, the museum staff collected a rich material and made valuable photos.
During our stay in the tabor, we made unique footage from the life of the modern reindeer herding community "Oron". Living in the camp in a tent together with the reindeer herders made it possible to record the moment of installation of the dwelling, its arrangement, names of places, household items, fishing tools and reindeer harness in the Evenki and Russian languages; to trace the work of shepherds in the herd, the work regime; to record information about the families of Soviet-era Evenki reindeer herders; methods of bringing up children and grandchildren. Special attention was paid to the national cuisine, recipes of dishes from wild reindeer meat, reindeer milk, method of cooking antlers, etc. were recorded. The video camera recorded the grazing of the reindeer herd on the seashore, the process of milking calves, cooking of reindeer milk and antlers, installation of a fishing net.
The collected materials will be used in the study of the Evenks of the Sea of Okhotsk and in highlighting the issues of preserving the historical and cultural heritage and the problems of development of traditional life forms among the Evenks at the present stage.
Materials and the diary were transferred to the museum archives.
