The regional ecological literary contest "Tiger Stories" was launched

From July 12 to July 30, 2023, the Ministry of Natural Resources of Khabarovsk Krai is holding an ecological literary contest "Tiger Stories", timed to coincide with the International Tiger Day and the Day of the Tiger in the Far East, as part of the Days of Protection from Environmental Hazards. We would like to remind you that one of the platforms of the Eastern Economic Forum-2022 was dedicated to the topic of preserving the red-listed animal, where Russian President Vladimir Putin noted the achievements of India, Nepal, Bhutan, and China and spoke about Russia's successes in this area.
- 12 years ago, there were no more than 390 adult Amur tigers living in our Far Eastern taiga. Now there are about 750 of them together with kittens. This is the result of systematic measures implemented at the state level, but above all a visible embodiment of the concerted, hard work of Russian scientists, enthusiasts and conservation organizations," the President stressed at the time.
The northern border of the tiger's habitat runs through Khabarovsk Krai. Amba is quite at ease in the Ussuri taiga, but the African swine fever has reduced the population of its main food - wild boar. In this regard, the governor of Khabarovsk Krai, Mikhail Degtyarev, signed a ban on hunting wild pigs for three years in March 2023, with the exception of scientific purposes. During this time, the herd should recover.
To ensure that the general public does not remain aloof from conservation activities, various events dedicated to the tiger are organized in the region. This includes the "Tiger Stories" contest, which can already be called traditional, as it is being held for the fourth consecutive year.
- Last year the contest received more than 100 works. Residents of Khabarovsk and Komsomolsk-on-Amur, as well as Ulch, Vyazemsky, Ayano-Maysky, Khabarovsk, Sovetsko-Gavansky municipal districts presented their creativity to the jury," said Alexander Leontiev, Minister of Natural Resources of Khabarovsk Krai.
You can participate in the contest in the following nominations: "Tailed Prose", "Striped Poetry", "Dedicated to Tiggers" (for children's audience), "I'd rather show you!" (in video format).
The contest is held in a distance format, with entries accepted from July 12 to July 24, 2023. To participate in the contest, those wishing to participate must register using the online form depending on the nomination and upload their work. For more information on how to participate in the competition, see Regulations. Inquiries by phone: (4212) 47-39-25, (4212) 47-39-26.
