Presented the catalog at the Grodekovsky Museum

November 10

Today the Grodekovo Museum hosted the presentation of the catalog "Towels of the Eastern Slavs (Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians): Catalog of the Collection from the Collection of the N.I. Grodekov Khabarovsk Territory Museum".

The catalog is devoted to the historical and cultural heritage of Slavic settlers of the Russian Far East.

This publication introduces the collection of one of the important material components of traditional Slavic culture - towels, kept in the Khabarovsk Krai Museum named after N.I. Grodekov. N.I. Grodekov.

The materials of the catalog, collected for the first time in a single publication, create a holistic view of the thematic collection stored in the collections of the N.I. Grodekov HCM.

This scientific publication is based on the description of unique 117 museum objects, most of which are presented publicly for the first time. All specimens are presented with color illustrations.

The book contains articles acquainting readers with the historical and ethno-cultural characteristic of the Russian Far East in the 19th - early 20th centuries, the history of the collection's formation, the specifics of everyday life and functions of towels in the culture of the Far Eastern Slavs, the peculiarities of the decorative style of the products.

The catalog is intended for historians, ethnographers, art historians, as well as for a wide range of readers interested in Slavic culture and Russian history.

Thanks to the preparation and publication of the catalog, a previously unpublished array of ethnographic monuments is being introduced into the scientific turnover. The work on the catalog can be regarded as a contribution to the study and preservation of the rich, colorful and original world of the Slavic population of the Russian Far East. To a certain extent, the catalog is the result of the museum's long work on the formation of a collection devoted to the traditional culture and history of the Far Eastern Slavs.

Khabarovsk Krai Museum named after N.I. Grodekov at the beginning of 2023 won the contest of projects for the publication of popular science works, organized by the Foundation "History of the Fatherland", receiving financial support for the implementation of the project - the publication by the Khabarovsk Krai Museum named after N.I.
