Professional development and new horizons for museums

From 17 to 22 March, Irina Borisovna Ivanova, Chief Researcher of the Scientific Department of Nature, was trained on an additional professional development program "Natural Science Museum: formation, accounting and storage of collections; educational activities" in the State Darwin Museum in Moscow.
The program of classes included a wide range of museology issues: familiarization with exposition and exhibition work of museums (multimedia in museum exposition, museum translation (ways of presenting information in museum exposition), peculiarities of storage of different groups of exhibits in natural science museums with a visit to the storage facilities of the State Dairy Museum (storage of stuffed mammals and birds, storage of Fine Arts, storage of rare books, storage of osteology, storage of insects, storage of paleontology), methodical activity of museums (ecological cultural and educational space of the museum - an area of unlimited possibilities, pr


- In addition to training, Irina Borisovna facilitated the signing of an agreement between the Museum of the Institute of Geology of Ore Deposits, Petrography, Mineralogy and Geochemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IGEM RAS) and the N.I. Grodekov Khabarovsk Territory Museum. N.I. Grodekov, in order to develop cooperation in the field of joint scientific research of minerals, rocks and popularization of geological knowledge.

The event was followed by a tour of the cultural heritage - Pashkov House, where BEN RAS is located.
Meeting with the Natural Sciences Library staff will open up opportunities for new cultural connections and collaborative projects.
