Denis Burlakov gave an open lecture of the Museum Design Laboratory "Ethno-style in the world of fashion" at the Grodekovo Museum.

The Laboratory of Museum Design, which is part of a larger project - "It's All About Fish" - continues its active work. The laboratory's program includes curatorial excursions, discussions and lectures, some of which may be interesting for a wide audience. We decided to hold several of these meetings in an open format, expanding the Weekend at the Museum program. 

The first open lecture dedicated to ethno-style in the fashion world was held by Denis Burlakov on December 23. Denis is a fashion designer, teacher, stylist, co-owner of the brand and salon-studio "Krylia" and one of the curators and experts of the project "It's all about fish".    

Denis told about the birth of ethnic style, the appearance of its first elements and then the whole images in the collections of fashion designers in Europe, the influence of hippie culture on the widespread use of ethnic style in clothing, how Japanese designers were able to reflect the traditional philosophy in the shapes and lines of cut, elements of decor and accessories. The history of style development was considered on the examples of collections of such fashion designers as Paul Poiret, Kenzo Takada, Yoji Yamamoto, Dries Van Noten, Ulyana Sergienko, Dolce and Gabbana, Christian Dior and Rei Kawakubo.

Denis Burlakov himself, together with the co-owner of the "Wings" brand, fashion designer Tatiana Vasilieva, is currently working on a collection of clothes and accessories in ethnic style, inspired by traditional motifs of arts and crafts of the peoples of the Amur region.
