Vote for Vladimir Arsenyev's Aspen
As part of the All-Russian program "Trees - Monuments of Wildlife" is the All-Russian competition "Russian Tree of the Year.
The competition is held in order to preserve the unique old-growth trees that are of natural, cultural and historical value to the Russian Federation, the formation of a single National Register of old-growth trees in Russia, as well as environmental and patriotic education of the younger generation.
The list of participating trees was approved by a special certification committee of the All-Russian program. Among the 69 nominees of the competition "No. 51 Aspen Arsenyev" is represented by Khabarovsk Krai.
"Manchurian Ash" was planted in Khabarovsk by the famous Russian ethnographer, traveler and writer Vladimir Arsenyev in 1911. The tree is located at the intersection of Muravyov-Amursky and Sheronov Streets, it can be seen by anyone walking along the main street of the city.
