Voluntary donations for the monument to G.I. Nevelsky

The regional government supported the public initiative to establish a monument to G. I. Nevelsky on the territory of Khabarovsk embankment, which bears his name. The author of the monument is Alexander Iulianovich Rukavishnikov, People's Artist of the Russian Federation, Honored Artist of the RSFSR, full member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Professor.
Voluntary donations for the creation and installation of the monument are made to the account of the Khabarovsk Regional Branch of the All-Russian Society for the Protection of Monuments of History and Culture.
The Admiral's merits are a vivid example of service to the Fatherland: the expedition under his leadership established the island position of Sakhalin, identified the possibility of entering the mouth of the Amur River, where on August 1, 1850 the Russian military flag was raised, Nikolaev military post was founded. Discoveries of G. I. Nevelsky were of great international importance: by peaceful way the vast territory of Priamurye, Primorye and Sakhalin was actually assigned to Russia.
