X Grodekov Readings
In 2000, the museum passed state accreditation at the Ministry of Industry, Science and Technology of Russia and received the status of a research institution. Grodekovsky museum's priorities are scientific research in the field of natural sciences, archeology, ethnography and history of the Far East, history of Far Eastern culture and museology. Regularly, once in three years, the museum holds an interregional scientific and practical conference "Grodekov Readings". The availability of the research sector allows the museum to publish the results of research in collections of articles, catalogs, monographs, conference materials, as well as to implement them in exhibition and exposition projects.
For the first time the conference was held on December 19-20, 1996. 106 people took part in it. By 2021 10 Grodekov Readings were held, the maximum number of conference participants reached 213 people.

April 17-18, 2012. - VII Grodekov Readings: "The Russian Far East: Multicultural Space in XIX-XXI Centuries.
April 15-17, 2015. - VIII Grodekov Readings: "The Far East of Russia: History and Modernity".
April 17-22, 2018. - IX Grodekov Readings: "The Far East of Russia at the Turn of an Epoch".
April 20-21, 2021 - X Grodekov Readings dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War and the 75th anniversary of the Tokyo trial of Japanese war criminals.
The geography of participants expanded significantly: the conference went from a regional format to a conference with international participation, with representatives from Russia, Belarus, Great Britain, Japan, the People's Republic of China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and the Republic of Korea taking part in it.
Along with the traditional natural science, archaeological, historical, ethnographic and cultural sections, there is a section of young researchers.
