Exposition "As in the best houses"
The space is reminiscent of a secular living room of the Art Nouveau era. Such living rooms were a meeting place for Khabarovsk intellectuals in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Italian armchairs, sofas, consoles and antique mirrors are placed along the perimeter of the hall. The walls are decorated with photographic portraits of fashionably dressed Khabarovsk citizens and with reproductions of works by Harrison Fisher, the first graphic designer of Cosmopolitan magazine, whose ideals of female beauty were taken as a reference in the late 19th century. In the showcases are fashion accessories: pendants, fans, handbags, men's watches, tie pins, as well as porcelain tableware from the Kuznetsovsky factory.
The dominant feature of the room is a German Schröder saloon grand piano (1880s). There is also a musical center - the Viktrola potephon (early twentieth century). The instruments are still in use, and you can hear their sound at excursions and events of the Museum and Cultural Center "Amur Utes".
