Amursky Utyos Visitor Center

The exhibition, timed to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and prepared jointly by the A.V. Shchusev Museum of Architecture and the Donetsk Republican Museum of Local Lore will be presented from April 15 to June 1 in the Visit Center "Amursky Utyos".
The exhibition is based on a collection of photographs by Yevgeny Khaldey, personally selected by him and given to the Donetsk Republican Museum of Local Lore. The exhibition also includes Khaldey's architectural works from the collection of the A.V. Shchusev Museum of Architecture.
Yevgeny Khaldey (1917-1997) was a famous military photo correspondent of TASS. He spent the Great Patriotic War from Murmansk to Berlin - from the first to the last day. He prepared reports from the Polar Regions, Crimea, Novorossiysk, Rostov-on-Don and other cities. Participated in the liberation of Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Yugoslavia and Germany. He covered the Victory Parade on Red Square in Moscow, the Potsdam Conference and the International Military Tribunal in Nuremberg.
Many of his works have become classics of world photography, were repeatedly demonstrated at exhibitions, published in mass media and printed in books.
Yevgeny Khaldey was born in Yuzovka (now Donetsk) in 1917 and has kept in touch with his small homeland all his life, regularly visiting Donetsk and donating his works to the city. In 1980, by the 35th anniversary of the Victory, he organized two large-scale exhibition projects at the Donetsk Museum of Local Lore.
The exhibition presents a significant part of the works donated by Yevgeny Khaldey to the Donetsk Republican Museum of Local Lore. This small collection reflects the author's theme of war and memory, different aspects of peaceful life in Donbass, tells about its architecture, working days and recreation of Khaldey's fellow countrymen, among whom there were famous for the whole Soviet Union advanced workers of industry and agriculture. It is important that the curator of this collection was the master himself - he personally selected the works he wanted to leave to his small homeland.
Architectural photography is a very special and little-known aspect of Khaldey's work. Photographic works of the late 1950s - early 1960s from the collection of the A. V. Shchusev Museum of Architecture depict the parade building of Donbass cities and seaside resort areas, embodying the post-war revival and the value of peaceful life.
Combining materials from two unique collections allows to create a multifaceted idea about the work of the outstanding master of photography and his role in the life of a great country.
The exhibition was organized by the Khabarovsk Krai Museum named after N.I. Grodekov. The exhibition was organized by the Khabarovsk Krai Museum named after N.I. Grodekov.
