Exhibition "Cossacks at the service of the sovereign"

July 29 at 15:00 opened the exhibition "The Cossacks at the State Service" from the collection of the State Historical Museum (Moscow).
The exhibition is devoted to the history of a unique estate in Russian history - the Cossacks. There are few analogues in other countries to the phenomenon of the Cossack, who combined a defender of borders, a pioneer, a farmer and a representative of military democracy.
From time immemorial, the main feature of Cossack life has been military organization with an elected system of government and democratic order. In the all-Russian arena, the Cossacks first seriously asserted themselves during the Time of Troubles at the beginning of the 17th century. At the electoral Zemsky Sobor of 1613, it was the word of Cossack atamans that was decisive when they insisted on the election of Mikhail Romanov as Tsar.
At the exhibition you can see the attributes of weapons and uniforms of the Cossacks.
At the exhibition you can see the attributes of arms and uniform of the Cossacks. The highlight of the exhibition is samples of 19th century Cossack uniforms, including the ceremonial coat of the line Cossacks of His Imperial Majesty's Own Cavalry and the uniform of the lower ranks of the Ataman Lifeguard Regiment of His Imperial Highness the Heir Cesarevitch, the pride and honor of the Russian Imperial Guards.
Since the 18th century the state constantly regulated the life of Cossack regions, unified and modernized in the right direction the traditional Cossack governance structures, turning them into an integral part of the administrative system of the Russian Empire. Among the rare exhibits of the exhibition, illustrating this side of Cossack history, stands out the badges of honorary and stanitsa judges, which were created according to the Regulations of 1891.
The exhibition is supplemented with a number of images, including both rare graphic images and paintings. Among them are portraits of famous Cossack atamans and people associated with the history of the Cossacks: Yermak Timofeyevich, Matvey Ivanovich Platov, Yakov Petrovich Baklanov and Nikolay Nikolayevich Muravyov-Amursky.
Military insignia, banners and awards give an idea of the role of the Cossacks in the wars fought by Russia from the XVII to the beginning of the XX century. Not a single Russian-Turkish war of the XVIII-XIX centuries went without Cossack sabers, not to mention the subjugation of the Caucasus, the accession of Kazakhstan and Central Asia, the development of Siberia and the Far East.
Tickets cost 300 rubles (with the ability to visit all the halls of the Main Building)
