October 4, 2024 in the Khabarovsk Krai Museum named after N.I. Grodekov. The exhibition "Servant to the Tsar, Father to Soldiers..." opens in the N.I. Grodekov Khabarovsk Krai Museum. Russian Generals in the Patriotic War of 1812" from the collection of the Museum-Reserve "Borodino Field".

The Patriotic War of 1812, "the time of glory and delight", as A.S. Pushkin defined this era, is one of the key moments of Russian history and the most important event for the national consciousness. Many factors played a role in the victory over Napoleon, but the main ones were the steadfastness and courage of the Russian army - soldiers and their fathers-commanders.

The exhibition shows the events of the Patriotic War of 1812 through the prism of the fates of the Russian generals. The idea is based on a line from Lermontov's famous poem "Borodino": "Servant to the Tsar, father to the soldiers...". Therefore, the exposition is opened by the image of Alexander I - Emperor and Autocrat of All Russia. The central section of the exhibition is a portrait series of generals of the Russian Imperial Army of 1812, starting with three commanders - M.I. Kutuzov, M.B. Barclay de Tolly and P.I. Bagration.

The most important battles of the Patriotic War of 1812 are shown through the works of battle paintings and graphics. They are complemented by archaeological finds from the Borodino field - bullets, grenade fragments, buttons, crosses, as well as authentic samples of uniforms and equipment of the Russian army in the era of 1812 and marching life of its command staff.

The exhibition concludes with a section dedicated to the memory of the War of 1812 and its participants. Here are coins and medals with images of generals and editions of their memoirs. The memory of the history of those events is also kept by the organizer of the exhibition - Borodino Military Historical Museum-Reserve, located on the field of the largest battle of the Patriotic War of 1812. In 2024, the world's oldest museum on the battlefield celebrates its 185th anniversary.

The exhibition is held within the framework of the national project "Culture".
