Back to the New Year!

The exhibition presents a unique collection of Christmas toys and decorations from the funds of the Grodekovo Museum. Amazing absorbent cotton toys of the 20-30s of the XX century with figures of people and animals and not only.
The exhibition traces the evolution of New Year traditions in the USSR - from attempts to ban the holiday to its triumphant return. Christmas trees, Ded Moroz and Snegurochka, bags with presents - all this comes to life in our showcases! And a suitcase full of antique toys will remind you of family traditions and how we carefully store these treasures all year long to get them out in December. Photographs complement the exposition, showing Khabarovsk of the 50-70s: decorated windows of the Central Department Store, festive Central Market, Christmas trees in the palaces of pioneers, New Year festivities and horseback riding.
"Back to the New Year" - is not just a museum exposition, it is an opportunity to remember your childhood, share memories with your loved ones, and show kids how their grandparents celebrated New Year's Eve.
The exhibition runs through January 26
*Entrance is free if you have a ticket to the museum
