It is with deep sorrow that the staff of the Khabarovsk Krai Museum named after N.I. Grodekov announces the death of Nikolai Ivanovich Ruban - an outstanding museum worker, historian, a man whose life was inextricably linked to the preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of the Far East.
Nikolai Ivanovich Ruban headed the Grodekovo Museum for almost 25 years (1994-2018) and became a true keeper of Far Eastern history. Under his leadership, the museum experienced an "era of rebirth":

- Opening of the new building - in 2008 the construction of the third building with a fund storage, children's museum and a unique exposition of Amur fishes was completed.

- Saving historical values - in the difficult 1990s, when many cultural institutions were closing down, the museum not only survived, but also expanded its holdings .

- The return of the Grodekov name - in 1994, by the centenary of the museum, Nikolai Ivanovich achieved the restoration of the historical name, which became a symbol of the continuity of traditions.

Nikolai Ivanovich did not just lead the museum - he lived it. His departure is an irreplaceable loss for the culture of the Far East. The bright memory of Nikolai Ivanovich Ruban will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him, worked with him, and who continue his work.
