A lecture by genealogist Alexei Svyatenkiy was held at the Grodekovo Museum

On June 24, the Grodekovo Museum hosted a lecture by genealogist Alexei Svyatenkiy on "Genealogy without leaving home: how neural networks and databases can help in the search for ancestors. The meeting was organized at the request and suggestion of Ivan Kryukov, Director General of the museum, for representatives of the Amur Historical and Genealogical Society and genealogical communities of Khabarovsk.

The lecture was devoted to the modern methodology of searching for genealogical information and working with such sources as online databases, artificial intelligence, and volunteer genealogist projects.

Aleksey Vladimirovich told about new possibilities of work in the archives and libraries of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, which have a digitized fund of documents, about the possibilities of DNA-testing technologies, which allow tracing the migration path of ancestors-settlers from regions of the Russian Empire to the Far East and places of residence of current relatives. It was also reported about the help of various Internet resources in finding information about the whereabouts of wanted relatives.

At the end of the lecture, Alexei Vladimirovich answered listeners' questions on the issues of interest and gave explanations to the information presented. The participants of the event also shared their personal experience and cooperation with archives and libraries, made their own additions to the lecturer's report, and disclosed details of the work of DNA-laboratories to identify family lines and ethnic origins.

At the end of the meeting, all participants spoke about the relevance of new opportunities to work with online databases, neural networks, and Internet resources in genealogical research.
