Grodekovo museum adds to its ethnographic collection

June 26

The other day, with the financial support of Polymetal, the ethnographic collection of the Grodekovo museum was enriched with new unique exhibits.

The carpet of bird skins is made by the craftswoman from the village of Vladimirovka in the Polina Osipenko district - Darya Ivanovna Nadeina (born 1942), the daughter and pupil of Anna Porfirievna Nadeina (1916-2019), a famous craftswoman from Negidal, member of the USSR Union of Artists.

The technology of bird skin mosaics is considered one of the most difficult, and the processing of skins is one of the most time-consuming. The thin material is not easy to degrease and prepare for stitching, because feathers are very delicate and brittle, and the skins tear with a little effort. Therefore, currently only a few non-Hidelian craftswomen use this material for their works.

Another new acquisition of the museum was products of Valentina Vladimirovna Beldy (born in 1964), a master from the village of Dzhari in Nanaysky District, a member of the Russian Artists Union: women's mittens and children's shoes, made in 2020 from the skin of chum salmon, catfish and flax. At present, Valentina Beldy is the only craftswoman in Nanaysky District who is engaged in dressing fish skin and making items from this material.

We highly appreciate our cooperation with Polymetal, which allows us to preserve the cultural heritage of the indigenous peoples of Khabarovsk Krai.
